This external retaining ring, also known as a snap ring or circlip, is supplied by the original manufacturer for use in impact drivers. It helps to secure the collar in the front housing assembly. It should be replaced if it is lost, damaged, or no longer able to remain securely attached. To replace the retaining ring, disassemble the front housing assembly and pull out the ring. Position the new ring in its place and reassemble the housing. Each retaining ring is sold individually.
